It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the new principal of Ho Fung College (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen). I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this prestigious school and work alongside our devoted teachers, staff, parents, and the community to promote whole-person development for all students.
The year 2024 marks the 50th Anniversary of our school, and we will be celebrating the Golden Jubilee with immense happiness. In the past five decades, Ho Fung College has been playing a pivotal role in shaping the lives of countless young individuals and remaining steadfast in its commitment to nurturing our students. This particular event gives us an opportunity, not only to celebrate our Golden Jubilee, but also to reflect on our 50-year education journey. As the new principal, I am committed to upholding the rich traditions and successes that have defined our school, while also charting a path forward that will prepare our students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. I firmly believe that our students agree that the well-known '3A's' - Able to learn, Able to do, and Able to engage – represent our vision and mission to nurture our students to become valued citizens who contribute to the development of our country. My vision for Ho Fung College is to create a dynamic learning environment which fosters academic excellence, personal growth, mental health, all-round development, and a sense of national identity.
At the core of my educational philosophy is the belief that all students have the potential to succeed when they are provided with the right resources, support, and guidance. My mission is to ensure that each and every one of our students feels valued, empowered, supported, and equipped to achieve their full potential. To achieve this vision, we will be focusing on the following strategies:
- Enhancing students' language proficiency: Proficiency in both Chinese and English is essential for students to achieve academic success and secure future opportunities. Our school will continue to enhance students’ language proficiency through the promotion of reading, language immersion activities and different cultural exchange programmes.
- Enhancing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education: In today's rapidly evolving society, STEAM skills are essential for success, and our school will provide more diverse hands-on learning experiences which cultivate our students' critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities through interdisciplinary learning activities.
- Fostering mental health: Besides the pursuit of academic excellence, we prioritise the development of essential life skills such as resilience and perseverance. With a caring and inclusive school culture, we will empower our students to overcome the challenges faced by adolescents and become compassionate and caring individuals.
- Strengthening community partnerships: We will actively engage with our alumni, parents, and various organisations to create a robust partnership network, providing our students with diverse learning opportunities and experiences beyond the classroom.
- Promoting Values Education: Values Education is an indispensable element of whole-person education. Ho Fung College will continue to promote Values Education through instilling various proper values and attitudes in our students.
